Sailing for All

Lake Michigan is one of Chicago’s greatest natural treasures — yet many of the young people who grow up just miles from the shoreline have never experienced it from the water.

Sailing for All exists to change that.

We believe every young person deserves the chance to feel the wind fill the sails, take the helm, and see their city from a completely new point of view.

They didn’t just go sailing.

They:

  • steered a 44’ trimaran

  • learned the language of wind and water

  • saw the skyline from a perspective they’d never imagined

  • experienced a rare moment of calm, confidence, and connection

For many, it was their first time on a boat.
For all of them, it was a first step into a bigger world.

What started as a single idea is already in motion.

In 2024, with the support of our community and in partnership with My Block My Hood My City, we welcomed more than 45 Chicago youth aboard Night Baseball for their first day on the lake.

Where we’re going

In 2026, our goal is simple and bold:

3× the impact.
3× the youth.
3× the first sails.

And we can’t do it without you.

This is more than a boat ride

It’s:

  • access

  • confidence

  • belonging on the water

  • a horizon that just got wider

What your support makes possible

Your contribution directly funds:

  • youth sailing experiences on Lake Michigan

  • transportation to and from the harbor

  • safety gear and sailing instruction

  • hands-on learning on the water
